Desperately Seeking the Fair Go is the third major draft of a MS started early in 2015 as To Parliament with Love. I was not getting strong feedback. Then of course the politics changed when Abbott was forced out. The urgency went out of that particular approach. I then restructured it as Breaking the Trance early in 2016, but the feedback was still luke warm.
The current Desperately Seeking the Fair Go responds to rising calls for more fairness, even an explicit search for the Fair Go. It is shorter, more focussed on immediate politics.
The rise of incoherent right-wing and reactionary protest in the 2016 election, and the failure of progressives, especially the Greens, to advance significantly means it’s harder to presume progressively-inclined citizens will change the way they vote. So it’s an attempt to promote the kinds of movement that coalesced around Bernie Sanders in the US and Jeremy Corbyn in the UK.
